ALPINE 55
- Art. ZAALP55
A medium/large sized rucksack, 55 lt, for alpinism and ski touring made with the new VX21 Carbon Composite fabric, used in sails technology. Composite materials are engineered materials that don’t occur in nature: the 210 Cordura laminated in a five ply sandwich with Dacron X-Pac fabric used for the basic structure is reinforced with netting in Dacron, increasing the material’s mechanics without making it heavier. The dark netting, easily visible and touchable on the fabric, increases rip resistance even when subjected to prolonged and heavy use. It also gives excellent structural stability not just to the fabric itself but to the whole rucksack. Real progress in quality standards. This fabric is 200 psi waterproof. The zipped opening on the front of the rucksack makes it easy to pack, or unpack, starting from the bottom upwards! Interior gear loops to distribute weight in the most stable position: towards the back. Internal pocket for hydration bladder and exit for tube. Two quick snap ice tool attachments. Side compression straps and ski slots. Large pockets on the hood. The top pouch can be taken off and used as a bum bag. Fixed back panel with cross shaped furrows permitting air circulation. Simple waist belt with two clever quick snap ice tool attachments that doesn’t interfere with a climbing harness. STEEL BLADE SHOVEL
- Art. SHSBLA.YBW
STEEL BLADE SHOVEL The shovel is the last tool in the companion rescue range after the avalanche beacon and the probe, but it is the tool allowing us to free our buried partner. This is the reason why it needs to be readily available (without complex maneuvers to assemble the shaft) and effective, therefore able to dig hard and icy snow that we can find while shoveling. That is why the best possible blade is a steel blade. Not a plastic one and not even an aluminium one: cutting knives have steel blades to be effective, not plastic nor aluminium ones! The Grivel shovel is a completely new product, designed to cover the needs of rescue and snow digging. It is ready to use without any assembling, it is natural to hold without any explanation and it is also panic proof in a moment of high emotional stress. It has a wide capacity unlike many models available on the market that are almost flat and turn out to be not effective for digging. It is multi-functional because it also works in “tight” situations, such as the bottom of a hole or the inside of an emergency cave. It is also easy to fix on the outside of a rucksack for immediate use and back protection. It can be used with an ice axe to extend the shaft in alpine environments or in expeditions. And last but not least it is the lightest in the world! The shovel is also useful in many situations besides avalanche rescue. - It is indispensable to analyse snowpack conditions by digging pits to see how different snow layers are tied and then determine the cohesion of the slope - It is indispensable for making emergency shelters on a snow slope in case of a forced or unexpected bivouac. - It is indispensable to dig an emergency hole on flat snow to build an igloo or a hut using the skis to support the roof. - It is very useful for carving out a level space for our tent on a ridge or a slope or any non-flat area and it allows us to easily build a windscreen; it also allows us to free a tent on which too much snow has piled on in bad weather conditions - It allows us to easily make a kitchen or storage area complete with seating, or even a toilet away from the wind and from curious eyes. - It makes an excellent dead man anchor to progress safely on snow slopes - It is also very useful to couple the front part of the skis to make an emergency stretcher
